Farm Livin' is the Life for Me...

Pepaw, as the kids call him, has a farm full of animals. He's getting on in years (78 this year!) so he's slowed down but can still put most 78 year olds to shame. He has a little coop with some chickens. He's building a larger outdoor part for them. He has two horses, a jackass (so many jokes there), two baby mules (the product of a horse/jackass mix in case you didn't know), a wild hog he caught and is raising and some more horses in a back pasture I haven't seen. He runs a trot line so he took the kids out to bait the hooks last night and went to pick them up this morning with the kids. They are having a blast. Also the family up the road is raisin' a baby deer they found.

We are just surrounded by wildlife. There are unpleasant parts as well. Red ants, scorpions, snakes, grasshoppers, yellow jackets, bumblebees...

This is the outside of the coop he has started for his birds.

Ezra and I at the chicken coop. I had to keep him pinned in because that boy would have had them chickens running.
Pepaw has a rooster too and boy that thing has some sharp looking claws.

There are the biddies. I didn't count them but he's got at least 8 and a head rooster.

Isn't this a neat idea? My FIL has some fantastic ideas.

Their water bowl.

They finally got a little closer. He said I made them nervous so they might not lay. Funny how chickens do that.

They ran away pretty quick.

The two babies wouldn't let me get close.

Their Mamas are the white horses. I haven't got a pic of their Dad yet. Come to think of it he has two jackasses so I'm not sure who the Daddy is.... :o
