I love quilts!

My Grandpa-in-law recently passed away. My Grandma-in-law passed a few years ago. My MIL asked if I wanted anything from the house before they cleaned it and sold it. I couldn't think of a thing. I was at her house on this vacation and I saw the most beautiful quilt. I commented on it and she said there were more her Mother had done and none of her kids wanted it. This is one I picked out from the ones she brought me. I love it and it's been gracing my bed. I will share the other one when I get a chance and take some pics of it. It's very interesting to look at it. It makes me happy.

The Best Mexican food is in Louisiana......right?

We headed to Hemphill to have Mexican food at one of my Mom's fav local restaurants. We got there and they were closed just for the day for renovations .....so we drove to Louisiana to nearest one, haha. I really enjoyed the drive though and it was very beautiful. I saw the sunsets in Wyoming and thought there could be nothing more beautiful ....then I saw the sunset in Nevada and thought that must top it but these sunsets in East Texas are gorgeous as well, especially over the water.

Sophie got a mustache but the funnest part was listening to her sing the Spice Girls while wearing this mustache because she forgot she had it on.

I wish we'd had some fishing poles with us.

My Mom and my brother both go on and on about how long this  bridge is.....it isn't even that long.

Driving into the sunset.

Grandpa's house (with his outhouse, well.....and casket)

My family is kind of odd in the way that they love old things. They collect old things. Their idea of a good time is to go antique looking....but not just antiques but anything of olde. This is my Grandpa's front porch.

I couldn't begin to tell you what all of these things are.

His license plate collection...

An old phone (I do recognize that.)

Sewing machine? I see the iron.

Measure sticks?

He has an outhouse that he had built. It's a double seated one...who would want to do their business right beside someone else? Is that true love? haha

My Grandpa is a bit odd. He says this is his casket which I thought he was joking about....

Then I noticed it has three handles on each side as well. I may be in the minority of not thinking that it's too odd for him to be preparing for the afterlife already.

He has a well right off his front porch. He had it dug right around the time he had the outhouse added (he has facilities in the house.).

Monkey Boy had a ball outside.

This porch swing is very relaxing.

Nature

A bird keeps building a nest in my Mom's machine on her porch. It built one and it's babies hatched and flew away so she cleaned out the nest removing all the pieces...

And it built a new one! It also put the pencil back in there that my Mom had removed. How funny is that? I can't imagine this bird picking up and putting this pencil here. Why the pencil?

My Grandma grows a garden. The produce is SOO good.

My uncle built a little scarecrow and he has hung jangly bags of rocks and such to the barbed wire fence around it.

My husband caught this scorpion. My MIL got stung by one the night before he caught it. EEK.

The view in the heart of the Piney woods is exquisite.
